Series 5000 Gas Sensors Improved

It has been almost two years since Opera launched its flagship series 5000 sensors, a versatile cross-over that fills the requirements for a stand alone gas sensor, and a powerful network controller, all in the same package.

Users are impressed with the ease with which this small unit can wear so many hats, fill so many possible configurations, and more importantly, reduce field wiring.  For example, you can take 30 sensors, right out of the box, and chain them together on a twisted pair.  With no programming and no old-fashion controller in sight, they are instantly communicating with each other.  With a few key strokes on the built in keyboard, you can direct or re-direct alarms and target them to any other unit which can act as the output device to turn on fans and open dampers.

Opera feels that if it isn’t broken don’t fix it.  Version 2 is now being shipped and it has all of the same features, and more!  They have added an expanded fault detection and reporting system, improved sensing precision (it was already impressive), and variable speed fan controls.

One variable speed exhaust fan is less expensive to install than a dual speed fan or multiple fans.  The operation is much smoother and quieter for the occupants and it reduces heating costs and maintenance on the fan components.

This new gas sensor version can be set up with fan drive options which are transmitted on the network as the gas increases, and, just like the alarms, they can be directed to any other unit which will act as the drive controller for them all or for a group, and still, with no old fashion, and pricey, controller in site.
